Leash & Lead was started by Mel Hannan in 2012. After many years of caring

for the pets of family and friends in her free time, Mel decided to pursue

Pet Care in a professional capacity and Leash & Lead was born.

For the first two years, Mel cared for all client pets on her own as the

business developed and grew. In 2014, a Weekend Pet Care Specialist

was added to the roster. Seasonal Pet Care Specialists soon followed and

eventually we grew to need year-round staff to service our clients at the

superior level of care instituted by Mel.

We are grateful that we have grown organically and have been able

to meet so many new friends and their pets along the way.

The majority of our current clientele has grown from client referrals,

a fact of which we are very honored to be thought of so highly.

Our commitment to our clients and their pets is the cornerstone of

our continued success. We've dedicated ourselves to providing the best possible experience for our clients and their pets.

We pride ourselves on attention to detail, pet engagement and play,

and overall concern and care for the pet's well-being. We strive to engage our clients, address their concerns, and ensure they have a high comfort level while we 

are caring for their pets. We understand that pets AND clients are equally

important and deserving of our attention and care.

Mel is a life-long Richmonder with many ties to the local community.

Graduating from Collegiate Schools, being an involved member of

The Junior League of Richmond since 2001, and serving on the

Richmond Auburn Club as an alum of Auburn University,

Mel's roots run deep and she loves and supports the Richmond community. 

The Leash & Lead team is an integral part of our local businesses and is

honored to serve Richmond.
